Fertility Program
You have read every book, logged hundreds of hours doing research on the web, chatted in many rooms and argued with your higher power-but why aren’t you pregnant yet?

Why Consider Us?
Western Medicine provides the science, we provide the art. We hold your hand and support you through the entire process.
We consider Alternative Medicine as the “other side” of medicine. At HIHF, we believe both sides can co-exist very effectively together. We pick up where Western Medicine leaves off by augmenting their protocols with our therapies.
Our Promise
Although we will do our very best to help you achieve your goals, we can promise you that you will feel physically stronger and more balanced emotionally with our treatments. For example, if you were to consistently work with us for 3 months-you would feel more ”well” on day 90 than you felt on day 1. At the end of 3 months, we would then recommend that you continue with us on a less-frequent visit-maintenance schedule so to help you mainatin the balance you have achieved with us.
Our goal is to help you to feel better and do everything possible to help you achieve your fertility goals.

HIHF Therapies As They Relate To Fertility
Acupuncture/ Traditional Chinese Medicine & Fertility
TCM describes the female reproductive system as a network of energy systems. Each energy system has complementary organs and hormonal responses. This network is sensitive to stress, chemicals, lack of exercise, poor diet and excess emotions all of which can put the body ‘out of balance’.
A TCM practitioner will carefully determine the state of your imbalance(s) and prescribe an individualized program of herbs, acupuncture and diet to help you create the correct biological and emotional environment for increased success with fertility and pregnancy.
HIHF has some of the best Acupuncturists in Calgary. What makes them experts is their level of determination and care when it comes to helping you reach your goals.

Nutrition and Fertility
The most comprehensive study to date looking at diet and fertility is the Harvard Nurses’ Health Study that followed over 18,000 women in a long-term research project looking at the effects of diet and other factors on the development of chronic disease. Chavarro and Willett looked at the fertility data from this study in The Fertility Diet (2008). During the study, each woman was trying to have a baby. Over eight years of follow-up, the study found that most did get pregnant.
However, one in six women encountered some problems getting pregnant. The results were incredible – even to the researchers – who found a six fold increase in fertility in people who ate a certain diet and maintained a certain lifestyle.
Specifically, the study found that women who had the lowest risk of ovulation problem-related infertility (or the highest fertility) ate a plant based, low GI, whole foods diet focusing more on vegetable protein and monounsaturated fats.
HIHF and our nutritionst have developed specific holistic nutritional guidelines to help the average North American develop tools to improve their nutritional lifestyle.
