Clinic Director, Registered Acupuncturist, DTCM, BCom, FABORM
The Holistic Institute of Health and Fertility is
Ann’s vision for providing a model of collaborative alternative healthcare to Calgarians.
“Originally, I didn’t want to work with fertility issues. It scared me as I felt that I couldn’t really offer the help women/couples were looking for. However, the universe had different plans for me and my fertility case load began to steadily increase over the years. I didn’t advertise that I worked with fertility, nor had any literature about it. People just kept on showing up on my doorstep. In the last few years, I have found my greatest success to be working with other therapies in conjunction with the acupuncture/TCM. As everyone has different needs, putting together customized treatment plans just naturally evolved. Another very important area of practice that has emerged is prenatal care. Once our patients achieve conception, helping them (and baby) to remain healthy has been key.
My drive comes simply from my desire to be in service to others. I honestly do not know what else we are supposed to do here on this earth.”
Ann received her degree from the Alberta College of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). During her career, Ann spent time abroad studying under famous Acupuncturist Dr. Anton Jarasurya at the South Colombo Teaching Hospital in Sri Lanka where, daily, she treated hundreds of locals with Acupuncture and TCM.
Over the years Ann has lent her time to volunteer activities including AIDS Calgary and the Calgary Women’s Center where she has sat on their governance board and taught workshops introducing the concept of TCM. Ann is a long time Provincial examiner with the Alberta College of Acupuncturists.
Ann also has her FABORM designation which means she is a Fellow with the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine.
“The ABORM has been formed by leading professionals in Oriental Reproductive Medicine who have come together voluntarily with a resolve to meet the patient and physician demand for a demonstration of knowledge of care in this field.” www.aborm.org

Yogis (South Clinic Only)
Ashley’s journey to becoming a yoga instructor started after attending her first hot yoga class…
“I was hooked instantly to the mental, physical and spiritual challenge and the more I practiced the more I wanted to practice.“
After graduating and working in a corporate environment Ashley found that a desk was not for her.
“I attended hot yoga teacher training with Kim McMullen and found my calling. Teaching yoga allows me to help people understand the mind body connection and how it affects their health, while giving me the opportunity to be a lifelong student.”
Candace started her yoga practise over a decade ago, being drawn back to the mat during times of stress…
She realized yoga was helping to create balance in her life. After experiencing two miscarriages and turning to yoga as part of her healing process, Candace knew she was meant to get her yoga teaching certification.
Candace loves teaching Prenatal, Yin Yang, Yin, Restorative and Vinyasa Flow Yoga, believing strongly in the power of an awesome Savasana. One of her favourite aspects of being a yoga teacher is building a practise to work for each individual, and the continuous learning process which comes with it. Each person in a yoga class is at a different place in their yoga journey and she is so honoured to be a part of it.
Eliza took her first yoga class in 2000. She was instantly intrigued and inspired, and still is, so many years later…
Early on, she realized that one day, she would become a yoga teacher; she wanted to share her passion for yoga with others.
Yoga became an instrumental part of her life; it got her through two pregnancies and helped her recover physically and emotionally, following these enormous changes in her life. In 2015, she took her 200 hour and therapeutic yoga training and now truly enjoys sharing yoga with others, of all age-groups. For Eliza, watching bodies move and creating a space where one may allow oneself to instill compassion, acceptance, ease and tranquility for themselves is amazing.
“It is a privilege to teach at The Holistic Institute of Health and Fertility; in such a caring atmosphere.”
